The Ice Spa heat pump is one the most energy efficient ways of heating your hot tub  water. This 7kW air source heat pump has the ability to work all year-round saving you up to 70% on running costs.

Description

The Ice Spa heat pump is one the most energy efficient ways of heating your hot tub  water. This 7kW air source heat pump has the ability to work all year-round saving you up to 70% on running costs.

Air source heat pumps work by extracting heat from the ambient air and then transferring that heat to warm the water of your hot tub or swim spa. This process is possible even in minus temperatures of down to -25ºc and is up to 13 times more efficient than the spas in-built heating element.

  • R32 Gas
  • Works down to – 25ºc
  • Heating & Cooling Function
  • Ultra Quiet Operation
  • Titanium Heat Exchanger
  • Corrosion Resistant Case
  • 3 Year Warranty

Price includes standard installation, pipework, lagging, valves and cable.

Please note we are currently only fitting these to Sundance, Master Spas & Theia products we have sold.

Buyer Info

The heater built into your spa will be either a 2 or 3kW unit. For a 3kW heater, we must input 3kW of electricity and in return we will receive 3kW of heat. The ratio is 1:1, or in heat pump terms we would say the coefficient of performance or COP is 1.

When looking at a heat pump, this COP figure tells you how efficient the unit is at a given temperature. For example, when you look at the capacity to generate heat at an air temperature of  26ºc (shown below), the COP is up to 11.9. This means for every 1 unit of electricity that goes into the unit, we can get up to 11.9 units of heat out. This as you can tell is far beyond the 1:1 ration of the inbuilt heater.

At cooler temperatures, it stands to reason that there is less heat available in the air and therefore the COP figure will be lower.

It’s important to note that not all heat pumps are able to work in lower temperatures and that many of the least expensive units do not function below 10ºc, making them useless in our climate. The Ice spa heat pump is capable of extracting heat from the air as low as -25ºc, making it a true year-round model that is perfect for the UK.

The figures below show a variation in Input and COP figures, this is because the Ice Spa is an inverter heat pump, or in plain English it has an accelerator like your car. It can work as little or as much as it needs to, so if it only needs to heat your water a degree or two, it will just tick over and therefore give you the best efficiency.

  • Heating Capacity at Air 26℃

    Heating Capacity (kW): 3.3 – 7

    Power Input (kW): 0.28 – 1.4

    COP: 5. – 11.9
