We are offten asked if we sell Jacuzzi hot tubs in our showroom and the answer of “No” often surprises people! That’s because the term Jacuzzi actually refers to a brand name of hot tubs and not actaully a type of product. Its ok though, we know exactly what they meant and are happy to then show them the brands that we do sell. The most comparable spa brand that we sell is Master Spas, one of the worlds largest producers.
Jacuzzi Hot Tubs
The Jacuzzi story goes back to the 1940s in the USA when Candido Jacuzzi invented a hydrotherapy pump that could be placed into an ordinary bathtub. The motivation behind the invention came from his son Kenneth who suffered from rheumatoid arthritis. Later in 1956, the Jacuzzi family started selling their bathtub pump as the J-300 and it didn’t take long for the brand to become a household name. It wasn’t until later in the 1980s that an outdoor hot tub was introduced and a new market was born.
Today the brand has 4 different ranges, the J200, J300, J400 & J500, with each range gaining in specification. Whilst the headquarters is still based in Irvine California USA, most of their hot tub manufacturing has been moved across the border to Tijuana, Mexico.
Master Spas Hot Tubs
Fort Wayne Pools a national swimming pool company, started manufacturing hot tubs back in 1978 under the Down East brand. Some 18 years later in 1996, Bob Lauter acquires the spa division and the Master Spas brand was born. In 2005 they introduced the groundbreaking H2X swim spa line and then in 2010, Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps partnered with Master Spas to launch the MP signature swim spa.
Today the brand has 5 ranges in the UK, Getaway, Storm, Clarity, Twilight & Michale Phelps Legend. Each model is still built by hand at the firm’s headquarters in the heart of Fort Wayne Indiana USA, making Master Spas the largest spa manufacturer to still make its products in the United States of America.
So, should you buy a Jacuzzi or a Master Spas hot tub?
